Mildred Yencha, 100 years of age formerly of Philips Street Coaldale, passed away peacefully on Friday February 8, 2019 as a guest of the fifth floor of St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale, Pennsylvania.

Born in Coaldale the daughter of the late Michael, and Mary (Skinkas) Unitis. She was also predeceased by;her husband, Joseph Yencha; sisters, Julia Stone, Agnes Barner; brothers, Joseph and Peter Unitis.

A graduate of Coaldale High School, Mildred had worked at a number of local local textile mills. Mildred and her husband owned and operated Joe's Lunch on Ridge Street in Lansford during the 1960's. She was a member of St. John Slovak Lutheran Church of Lansford, and enjoyed playing Bingo.

Survived by her daughter, Sylvia Twarog of Shelton Ct.; grandchildren, Michael and Jeffrey; great grandchildren, Olivia, Charlotte, Julianne, and Ryan.

Helen D. Boris , 90, of Pottsville, died Friday at Providence Place, Pottsville.

Born in St. Clair, July 31, 1928, She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Ponist) Prievoznik.

She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter M. Boris in 2010, 2 brothers Joseph and Frank Kapsha; 3 sisters Margaret Stetz, Mary Mason and Anne Filipponi;

Surviving are 3 daughters Cherie Amendola of Waverly; Kathleen Ambielli of Woodinville, WA; JoEllen McLaughlin of Thorton; 2 sons Dr. Walter Boris of Southampton, NJ; John Boris of Chatham NJ; 16 Grandchildren Dorina, Daniel, and Diedra Amendola; Brian and Lauren Ambielli; Ashley and
Walter Cameron Boris, Jack and Lea Casano-Boris; Christopher, Jonathan, Colin, Timothy, Brendan, Ryan and Sean McLaughlin; 4 Great grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair with Msgr. William F. Glosser officiating. . Friends may call from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made
to St. Clare of Assisi Memorial fund at the above address. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, St. Clair.

Shirley Maroukis, 84, of Pottsville, passed away on Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill – East.

Born in Minersville, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Sharp Beury. She was a graduate of Minersville High School, and worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Good Samaritan Hospital.

Preceding her in death were her husband, George M. Maroukis, Sr., on April 26, 2013; a daughter, at birth.

Shirley is survived by five children, Michael G. Maroukis, Harrisburg, Thomas R. Maroukis, Mill Creek, Suzanne Cavanaugh, Pottsville, George M. Maroukis, Jr., Cressona, and James Maroukis (fiancé, Joy Piccioni), Cumbola; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until funeral services at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Mount Peace Cemetery, Branch Township.
