Mahanoy Township Man Locked Up After Attempted Assault and Abusing Dog

A Mahanoy Township man is locked up in prison after assaulting a woman and abusing a dog late Wednesday.

According to Mahanoy Township Police, just before 11:00pm, Wednesday evening, Township Police responded to a disturbance at 531 Park Place Road for a reported disturbance involving a man yielding a knife, and abusing an animal.

Upon arriving on scene, it was learned that Brian Yasembousky, 55, had pulled a knife on a female and attempted stabbed at her face.

Yasembousky also picked up a small dog by the neck and threw it from the kitchen into the dining area.

Yasembousky was charged with felony attempted aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person, and a summary count of cruelty to animals.

He was arraigned by on call Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000.00 cash bail.

Mahanoy Township police were assisted by the Mahanoy City Borough Police.

**CORRECTION:  This story was originally posted with the information that Yasembousky stabbed the woman in the face.  That information was incorrect, he attempted to stab her in the face resulting in "attempted aggravated assault".
