According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred on Sunday morning around 7:30am when Robert Jewells, 89, of Tamaqua was travelling south on Route 309 near 83 Claremont Avenue, Rush Township, when he lost control on a left curve.
Jewell's vehicle left the roadway and struck a concrete planter.
Jewell suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported to an area hospital via Tamaqua ambulance.
Hometown Fire assisted at the scene.
