Pottsville Jeweler Identified as Victim in New Orleans Homicide; Police Seek Woman in Connection

A well-known jeweler in Schuylkill County has been positively identified as the victim in a homicide in New Orleans on Thursday.


According to New Orleans Police, Patrick Murphy, 62, of Pottsville, and owner of Murphy Jewelers, was found dead in a room at the Empress Hotel on Ursulines Avenue in New Orleans around 12:00pm on Thursday.

According to the New Orleans Coroner's Office, Murphy died of "Sharp Force Injuries".

Police are currently seeking a woman on homicide charges in relation to his death.

The woman, positively identified as the perpetrator (as stated by police), has been identified as Megan Hall, 25, and is wanted on second degree murder charges.

There is no information provided on how Murphy may have known or met Hall.

New Orleans Police said that "This is still an open and active investigation".
