Hubert E. Becker, 91, of Barnesville, PA and formerly of Tamaqua, PA died on Friday, March 1, 2019 in Coaldale, PA. He was preceded in death by his wives, Phyllis (nee Irvin) Becker in 1965 and Shirley L. (nee Phillips) Becker in 2017. Born in Tamaqua, PA on June 29, 1927, Hub was a son of the late Robert and Edna (nee Bittle) Becker. A 1945 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he attended the University of Tennessee on a football scholarship. After employment with Bundy Tubing, Hub worked as a locomotive mechanic for the Reading Railroad from which he retired. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua; the Odd Fellows Lodge, Tamaqua; the Tamaqua Elks; the Tamaqua American Legion; and the Pennsylvania Live Steamers Model Railroad Club, Collegeville, PA. He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame, Tamaqua Area Chapter in 2005 and the Carbon Chapter in 2006. Hub is survived by daughters, Bonnie Painter of Barnesville, PA and Beth Marcavage of Lake Hauto, PA; step daughters, Amy Pickering and her husband Adam of Humble, TX, Suzanne Cunningham and her husband George of Cloverdale, OR, and Nancy Stiles of S. Lake Tahoe, CA; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by brother, Donald Becker and Robert Becker and sister, Eleanor Foley Foster. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 7 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Cindy White officiating. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown, PA will follow. Call 10-11 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Brian L. Miller, 64, of Manor Rd., Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Tremont Health & Rehab Center.
Born on January 31, 1955 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Marlin Sr. and Helen Lipinsky Miller.
He was in the Air Force Reserves and was a member of Reedsville Bethesda EC Church, Schuylkill Haven.
Brian was a Truck Driver, sales associate, worked for Miller Surplus in Pa. and Hock Building Material in Cressona. He and his cousin Matt Yob were partners and owned Metro Sign Co. in Arizona.
He enjoyed hunting and loved fishing, especially deep sea fishing.
Preceding him in death was a brother Theodore Miller.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Kelli Eyman Miller of Tuscon, AZ; children David Miller of Schuylkill Haven, Melyssa Velge of Arizona and Gerald Miller of Arizona; numerous grandchildren; two brothers, Ike Miller of Schuylkill Haven, Marlin Miller Jr. of Trappe; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with his brother, Pastor Marlin Miller Jr. officiating. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the Funeral Home. 

Interment will follow in Reedsville Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

Dorothy M. Bolich, 87, of Orwigsburg, passed away Thursday, February 28th, at her residence, with her family by her side.

Dorothy was born in Deer Lake, PA on September 30, 1931, a daughter of the late Esther (Young) and Paul Fryer.

She was the widow of Kenneth M. Bolich.

She was a member of Zion's Red Church Orwigsburg and worked for the Zulick Shoe Factory & the Sylray Textile factory in Orwigsburg.

Sandra, wife of Mark Krammes

Karen, wife of Gary Jones

Three sons Kenneth (Butch) W., husband of Barbara Bolich

Robert Bolich, husband of Karen and William (Bill) Bolich

She is also survived by Grandchildren, Scott Petery, Lisa Martin, Barry Bolich, Heather Rainis, Cindy Zimmerman, Robert Rainis, Kenneth Krammes, Christina Alexander, Jason Jones, and 17 Great Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her grandson Craig Petery, and great grandson Brandon Zimmerman.

A religious service will be held at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremations Services, Inc., Orwigsburg, on Tuesday, March 5 at 11:00 with Rev. Robert Burkey officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of service.

Interment will be in Zion's Red Church Cemetery.

Clarence R. Freeman, 85, of Tremont died Wednesday, February 27th at the Lebanon VA Medical Center with his family at his side.

Born in Tremont, October 20, 1933, a son of the late Theodore J. and Dora L. Richter Freeman.

He was a graduate of the former Tremont High School. He was of the Protestant Faith.

He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1958 after serving two years and achieving a rating of Specialist 4th Class in the Tank Maintenance Division in the 83rd Ordinance Co at Ft.Knox Kentucky.

He retired after 35 years from the Lebanon VA Medical Center as a Nurses Aide.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be deeply missed by his cat Pluto, his constant companion.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Kroh Freeman in 2003, a sister, Phyllis Lehan and stepsister June Kieffer.

Surviving are two sons Randall Freeman and his wife Kristen of Deturksville and Kevin Freeman of Williamstown, a daughter Lori Somers and her husband David, Sr. of Tremont; a stepbrother Theodore J. Freeman, Jr of Lancaster, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5th at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City. Burial will be in the German Reformed Cemetery, Tremont. Viewing will be from 10-11 at the chapel. To sign the guest book visit www.dimonfuneralhome

Richard C. "Dick" Messersmith, 78, of Tower City, passed away Tuesday, February 26th.

Born in Elizabethville, May 5, 1940, a son of the late Albert and Kathryn Baker Messersmith. He was a graduate of Upper Dauphin High School.

Dick was an Army veteran. He was employed for over 30 years at Fort Indiantown Gap Military Base, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was also was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a former member and past President of the Tower City Rotary Club; former Vice President of the Porter Tower Jaycees and past Treasurer of the Porter Tower Lions Club.

He enjoyed being outdoors, watching NASCAR, being with his dog Barney and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Messersmith.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Ginger Moore Messersmith; two children, Bruce Messersmith and his wife Sara, Tower City and Carol Reiner and her husband Rod, Tower City; one sister, Ann Sentz, Wernersville; one grandson, Eric Reiner and his girlfriend Cassondra Smith, Muir. Nieces and nephews.
