Leon W. "Will" Dierwechter, 78, of North Manheim Township, passed away Monday, March 11th, at his residence.

Born in North Manheim Township on December 5, 1940, he was a son of the late Vernon L. & Arlys H. "Nook" (Mullins) Dierwechter.

He was the loving husband of Pauline B. (Hickman) Dierwechter, whom he married in 1960.

Will was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School, Class of 1959.

He was formerly employed by Rainier, now Omnova, Auburn, as a plant operator.

Will attended St. John's United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven.

Will was a true naturalist. He loved spending time outdoors gardening; planting flowers, bushes, and trees. Will was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

A devoted family man, he was a loving husband, Dad, & Pop Pop.

One of his favorite times of the year was the two weeks he spent annually, vacationing with his family in Canada.

In addition to his parents, Will is also preceded in death by his brother, Gary Dierwechter, and son, Mark Dierwechter.

In addition to his wife, Will is also survived by son, William Dierwechter & wife, Sherry, Yacolt, WA, grandchildren: Christopher Dierwechter & wife, Kayla, North Manheim Township, and Melissa Dierwechter & her fiance Ryan Murphy, both of Troutdale, OR, and great-grandchildren: Eathan & Maddison Dierwechter. He is also survived by step-grandchildren: Kenneth & Michelle Deffenbaugh, both of Yacolt, WA, brother, Dale Dierwechter, Hamburg, sister, Carol Wasser, Pottsville, and nieces & nephews.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 15th, with Rev. Janet Lewis officiating.

A viewing will be held Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Interment will immediately follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Leo W. Fertig Jr., 82, of Centre St., Ashland, passed away Tuesday, March 12th, at the Broad Mountain Manor Nursing Center, Frackville. Born in Lavelle, March 4, 1937, he was the son of the late Leo W. and Mary Joyce Fertig Sr.

He was a graduate of the former Ashland High School, class of 1957. Leo served in the U.S. Army as an armed security guard in Germany during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Private First Class with the Company B of the 9thOrdinance Battalion. Following his service time he was employed 40 years for the Standard Press Steel Company in Jenkintown and Fort Washington as an order estimator. He was a member of the American Legion, Frackville, Good Fellowship Club, Ashland, Mowry Rod and Gun Club, Mountain Valley Senior Golf Club, and a former member of the Lavelle Fire Company.

Preceding him in death was a brother Gene R. Fertig, passing in April 1993 and a brother in Law Asher Smith.

Daughter: Mary Lynn wife of Douglas Theisen, Vienna, VA

Daughter: Ann Marie wife of Joseph Groody, Ashland

Son: Leon Fertig, Ashland

Son: Mark Fertig and his wife Heather, Warminster

Brother: Kenneth (Wade) Fertig and his wife Sally, Warminster

Brother: Robert Fertig and his wife Linda, Pitman

Brother: Allen Fertig and his wife Ann, Lavelle

Sister: Burdell Smith, Mowry

Nine Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service, Saturday, March 16th, at 11 AM in the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be Rev. Dana Heckman Beil, pastor of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Ashland. Internment with military honors will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Lavelle. A visitation will be held starting at 9 AM until service. Memorials may be made to the Schuylkill Community Area Foundation, 216 S.
