LCCC Offers Health Care Training in Tamaqua

Lehigh Carbon Community College is offering two health care training courses at its Tamaqua location this spring, and a limited number of scholarships are available to those who qualify.

The Home Health Aide course runs April 15 through May 8, Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The program prepares students for entry-level employment in a home health care setting, offering well-rounded knowledge of basic patient care skills and home management. Students will learn safe work practices and protocol in order to assist those who are sick, injured, disabled or have difficulty with daily activities. CPR training is included in this program.

The Office Assistant course runs May 13 to July 8, Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. This training course is designed to equip students with the professional skills needed to become an administrative assistant. Students will learn in-demand skills like office organization, technology including Microsoft Word, scheduling and filing, record maintenance, financial skills and general administrative duties.

The courses are offered at LCCC’s Morgan Center, 234 High St., Tamaqua, Pa., and a limited number of scholarships are available to assist students with tuition. For more information, contact Jennifer A. Leach, job training healthcare specialist, at JLeach1@lccc.edu or 610-799-1669.
