Tremont Police Arrest Man for Assault, Endangering Welfare of Children


A Tremont man was taken into custody last week for an alleged incident that involved in assault and endangering the welfare of children.


According to Police, on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 Tremont Police Department obtained an arrest warrant from Magisterial District Judge David Rossi for Gary Baser, 33, of Tremont.

Baser was charged with Felony Aggravated Assault, Felony Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Misdemeanors for Simple Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and a Summary charge for Harassment in relation to a domestic assault that occurred on Monday, April 1, 2019 in Tremont Borough.

With the assistance of Branch Reilly Police Department, Baser was taken into custody and served with a Protection From Abuse order from the victim.

Baser was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Rossi and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $50,000 straight cash bail.

Three children involved in this incident were taken into emergency protective custody by Tremont Police Department.

Baser will appear before the magistrate for a preliminary hearing at an upcoming date.
