Ashland Fire/Police Rescue Man and Child from Roof in Borough Friday Afternoon

A man and child were rescued by emergency personnel in Ashland Friday afternoon.


According to Ashland Police Chief Gerard Daley, around 3:45pm, Officer Dan Weikel wasd dispatched to 1931 Walnut Street for a report of a naked child on the roof of a residence.

When Officer Weikel arrived, he found a 5 year old child on the rear 3rd story roof of the home.

After Officer Weikel made contact with the father, the father went out onto the roof to retrieve the child.

Once the father was on the roof, he climbed to the next door roof, and at this point couldn't get back into the residence.

The Washington Fire Company Ladder Truck and American Hose Co. were called to the scene.

Eventually, emergency personnel were able to gain access to the next door residence and get the father and child safely through a window.

Both the child and father were unharmed.  The child was evaluated at the scene by Washington Ambulance.

Children and Youth services were contacted by police to respond to the home.

Washington Fire, American Hose Co., Ashland EMS, Ashland Police, and Butler Township Police responded to the scene.
