David A. Lucas, age 67, of Hegins, passed away Saturday at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Miriam F "Mim" Wetzel, age 92, of Providence Place, Pine Grove, formerly of Pitman, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019 at Providence Place.

She was born on Friday, July 2, 1926, in Helfenstein, a daughter of the late Charles N Maurer and the late Anna H I Marlow Maurer.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins; where she was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Women.

Mim was an avid Phillies fan, she liked watching the Hallmark channel, loved Lawrence Welk, and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Her husband, Paul R Wetzel, passed away in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents; by two sisters, Stella Miller and Beatrice Pennypacker; and by five brothers, Arthur Maurer, Earl Maurer, Raymond Maurer, Paul Maurer, and Luther Maurer.

She is survived by two daughters, Darlene M Carl and her husband Daniel of Hegins and Beth A Gallagher and her husband Bill of Lusby, MD; three granddaughters, Angela Andriukaitis of Harrisburg, Kiera Gallagher of Lusby, MD, and Allison Gallagher of Lusby, MD; two sisters, Naomi Yarnell of Grand Terrace, CA and Esther Wetzel of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins, on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at 11:00 am, with Rev. W. Keith Rockwell officiating.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday at the church.

Burial will be in Hepler's Church of God Cemetery, Pitman.

Memorial contributions can be made to Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA, 18 Wertz Dr, Pine Grove, PA 17963.

Ruth Louise MacDuff, 76, of Lake Wynonah, passed away Thursday, May 30, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

Born in Pottsville, Oct. 30, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Mahlon and Ruth Smith Steffy.

She was the wife of Matthew J. MacDuff.

Ruth was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1960.

She was a homemaker most of her life, but had worked at Robert Hall clothing store and at Indiantown Gap as a secretary.

Ruth was of the Protestant faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann.

In addition to her husband, Ruth is also survived by two sons, Scott J. MacDuff and wife, Linda, Lake Wynonah, and Shawn D. MacDuff, Berks County; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Stump and Michelle Reed; brother-in-law, Kenneth MacDuff.

A Celebration of Life graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven, with certified celebrant Caitlyn Ebling officiating.

Peter J. DeAngeles, Jr., 83, of Pottsville, passed away on Wednesday, June 5th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East Norwegian.

Born in Pottsville, on April 23, 1936, he was a son of the late Mildred (Eagan) and Peter J. DeAngeles, Sr.

He was a 1954 graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School and a member of St. Patrick R.C.C., Pottsville.

Peter proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korea era.

He worked as a postal clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Pottsville for 42 years, retiring in 2004.

Peter was a member of the Traveler Protection Association, the Black Diamond Navy Club, and NARFE.

He enjoyed traveling, especially to Stone Harbor, spending time with family and friends, walking, and working out.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda E. (Lopez), on May 22, 2017, and to whom he was married 56 years; son, Anthony J. in 2010; and sister, Louise Lucas.

Peter is survived by a daughter, Christine A. MacAdams, of Pottsville; a son, David DeAngeles, of Lancaster; daughter-in-law, Debra DeAngeles, of Northampton; grandchildren: Amanda DeAngeles, wife of Joseph Jobes, of Bethlehem and Jacob, of Washington, D.C.; brother, William, husband of Nancy DeAngeles, of Pottsville; several nieces and nephews; and cousins.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 11th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. A visitation with the family will be held in the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Interment with military honors will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.

Russel M. Mengel, 89, of Orwigsburg, died Thursday, June 6th, at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill, Pottsville. Russel was born in Auburn on January 24, 1930, a son of the late Iva A. (Driesbach) and Earl J. Mengel. He was the widower of Jane E. (Dunkel) Mengel.

He was a member of St. John's Church, Auburn and a graduate of Auburn High School, Class of 1948, being President of his class. He worked as a sales engineer at Frank C. Meyer in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal and achieved the rank of staff sergeant. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #138. He was an avid hunter and spent many enjoyable hours golfing with his friends. Many weekends were spent traveling to horse shows and trail rides with the Schuylkill County Boots and Saddles Club. Family was very important to him, especially spending time with his granddaughter and attending her sporting events. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his family around the country and special weekends at Knoebel’s.

Russel is survived by his daughter Rochelle, wife of Joseph Evanousky, granddaughter Joelle LeMasters, wife of Thomas, great granddaughter Jane LeMasters, great grandson Luc LeMasters, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Borkey and his companion Lorna Fritz.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Church of Auburn with Reverend Walter Breiner officiating on Friday, June 28 at 11 AM. Memorial gathering will be from 10 AM until the time of service.

Leroy A Seiger, 85, of Ponderosa Lane, Pine Grove, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at home.
Born on January 13, 1934 in Minersville, he was a son of the late Raymond and Jennie Young Seiger.
He was a Corporal in the Army having served with the 1729 CO B 54 ENGR C BN.
Leroy was a truck driver for Yoder Trucking and a custodian for the Blue Mountain School District from 1976 until 1995.
Preceding him in death was a son Roy Seiger; 5 brothers, Harry Seiger, Charles, Raymond and William Buffington, Ervin Cook; 4 sisters, Thelma Seiger, Sarah Klick, Anna Huddock and Margaret Simosky.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, June Brown Seiger; 3 sons, Kerry and wife Brenda Brown of Pine Grove, Ray and wife Theresa Seiger of Mahanoy City, William and wife Tina Seiger of Schuylkill Haven; daughter-in-law Emily Seiger of Mahanoy City; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Pinkerton of Wilmington, DE.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
