Woman Facing Charges For Assault and Child Abuse

A woman is facing charges after police say she assaulted a man and a teen in Quakake.

According to Rush Township Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky, on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at approximately 10:05pm, a report was received regarding an assault that occurred in the unit block of West Main Street in the village of Quakake in Rush Township.

Officers responded and discovered that a 44 year-old female named Malayasia Whitaker had assaulted a 67 year-old male and had also bitten a 14 year-old male at that location.

Charges were completed, and a warrant was obtained for Whitaker. 

She turned herself in at Rush Township Police Headquarters on Thursday, June 6th, 2019. She was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier and committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $7,500.00 straight bail. 

A preliminary hearing will be scheduled in the near future for the defendant.
