Truck Rolls in Crash on Route 61 Saturday Afternoon near St. Clair

Two people suffered minor injuries in a crash on Route 61 Saturday afternoon near St. Clair.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 2:00pm, Saturday, near the Gasway on Route 61 just north of St. Clair.

Police say the crash occurred when a Toyota Scion, driven by Arturas Varnas, 52, of Worcester, MA was travelling south on Route 61 and attempted to make a left turn into Gasway.

A Dodge 3500 being driven by Terry Johnson, 52, of Hazleton was travelling behind.

Police say Johnson was not paying attention and noticed the slowing vehicle in front of him at the last second and swerved to the right to avoid collision.

The front left bumper of the Dodge struck the right rear corner of the Scion.  The Dodge rolled onto it's side and onto the southbound berm.

The Scion spun and blocked both northbound lanes.

Both drivers reported pain but declined treatment from EMS at the scene.

Assisting at the scene were the St. Clair Fire Company and Schuylkill EMS.
