Man Dies from Injuries Suffered in Interstate 81 Crash on Sunday

A man has died after a crash that occurred on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County on Sunday.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 5:30pm, Sunday, when an unidentified 30 year old male, was traveling southbound in a 2013 Chevrolet SUV on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township near mile marker 127.

Police say, for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the eastern side of Interstate 81 and hit a guide rail.

After the impact with a drainage ditch, the vehicle rolled several times, ejecting the victim from the vehicle, where he was found approximately 15 feet from the wreckage.

The victim was then transported via ambulance to a waiting Medivac helicopter at the Frackville Elks where he was airlifted to Geisinger Hospital in Danville where he later died from his injuries.

Police have not released the victim's identity pending next of kin notification.
