One Flown After Motorcycle Struck by Tri-Axle on Route 895

One person was flown Monday after a crash on Route 895 that involved a motorcycle and a tri-axle truck.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred just after 2:00pm on Route 895 in West Brunswick Township.

Police say the crash occurred as Gary L. Schaeffer, 73, of Middleport was driving in a tri-axle dump truck came up behind Jeffrey Mintzer, 51, of Schuylkill Haven on a motorcycle.

Schaeffer reportedly struck rear of the motorcycle when Mintzer slowed to a make a left turn onto Stephens Road.

When the dump truck struck the motorcycle Mintzer was ejected and the bike became wedged beneath the truck.

Mintzer was flown to an area hospital with an unknown extent of injuries.

Route 895 was closed for a period of time while the scene was investigated.
