Investigation Leads State Police to say Woman Made Up Story about Assault

State Police are saying after an investigation into an alleged assault near Pine Grove that it never happened.

On Wednesday, State Police at Schuylkill Haven released information on an alleged assault on a 73 year old woman.

The woman told police that she was approached Wednesday morning, outside Little Angels Day Care on Pleasant Valley Road, where she works by a man wearing a mask and gloves.  The woman told police that the suspect demanded money from her and after refusing, the suspect pushed her down, emptied her purse, and ran off.

The woman was flown to an area hospital for unknown injuries.

The Day Care and the Pine Grove School District were put on lock down Wednesday morning because of the alleged incident.

After a complete and thorough investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, they say the investigation has been closed. No evidence was found to support the Victim’s report.

Police did not release details on the woman's condition or why she would have made up the story.
