Blaschak Coal Corp’s President & CEO to Step Down and Become Chairman; Announces Successor

Blaschak Coal Corp announced Monday morning that Greg Driscoll will step down from the role of President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2020, after 10 years in the position.

Driscoll will take on the role as Chairman of the company. Concurrently, Boyd Kreglow will assume the role as President and CEO.

Driscoll has served at the helm since Blaschak’s acquisition by Milestone Partners in May 2009. Over that decade, the company experienced significant growth, earning it a spot as one of the top producers of Pennsylvania anthracite. During his leadership tenure, Driscoll focused his efforts on growth and transforming the company from a family business to an institutionally owned and financed enterprise, as well as establishing a succession plan and building a highly respected senior management team. Through that time, company sales grew from 220,000 tons per year to a record level of 382,000 tons in 2018, and the company grew employment from about 100 in 2009 to just over 145 today. Driscoll also presented at dozens of industry conferences around the county, promoting the benefits of Pennsylvania anthracite.

“Succession is a key responsibility for executive leaders,” said Driscoll. “I am proud of all we have accomplished here during my tenure as president and CEO, and am excited to be in the position of turning the leadership of the company over to someone I have had the privilege of working with over the past 10 years. We have developed a strong and highly skilled team to lead the company through the next generation, and I am confident Boyd will do a great job taking the company to the next level.”

Kreglow joined Blaschak upon the acquisition by Milestone Partners, as well. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Blaschak. He brings a background in public accounting, and construction to his position. Prior to joining Blaschak, he served in executive financial leadership positions with Majestic Athletic, Schlouch Incorporated, Hanes Brands - Morgan Knitting Mills and Bieber Transportation.

“I’m grateful to have worked side-by-side with Greg over the last 10 years, learning the nuances of the company and the anthracite industry,” said Kreglow. “With the growth we’ve been experiencing, and most recently with production beginning at the Mt. Carmel site, it’s truly an exciting time to be working at Blaschak. I’m looking forward to continuing, and building upon, the strong legacy Greg has created.”
