LVH-Schuylkill Honors State and Local Lawmakers

Looking toward the future sometimes causes us to take pause and look at the past. That’s just what leaders from Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill did as a representative of the Governor’s Office, Schuylkill County’s state legislative delegation and local elected officials attended a special recognition ceremony last week.
The event honored those who helped LVH–Schuylkill secure a $2 million RACP Grant which provided partial funding for two facility projects that were critical for the hospital’s integration of services. RACP stands for the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Projects fund.

The grant, which required a matching share from the hospital funded the construction at the South campus of a new and expanded Senior Behavioral Health unit as well as a new and expanded Advanced Wound Center. Both facilities are only offered locally at LVH–Schuylkill.

“The construction of these enhanced services allowed for the creation of a new Family and Birth Center at our East Norwegian campus,” says Lawrence Riddles, MD, Regional Chief Medical Officer. LVH–Schuylkill provides the only mother and baby unit in the community. “This grant has had a major impact and has touched the lives of many in our community who need care the most and close to home.”

Added LVH–Schuylkill President Bill Reppy, “We celebrate and say thank you to our government partners for their ongoing support for the health of this community.”

Following brief remarks, the officials participated in a plaque unveiling which reads:
