One Person Dies; Seven Displaced After Overnight Fire in Pottsville

One person has died and seven people are displaced after a fire in Pottsville overnight.


Around midnight, emergency personnel were called to a house fire at 1971 West Howard Avenue, Pottsville.

As the first crews arrived, they found heavy fire in the front of the home and learned a woman was trapped on second floor.

Crews were able to rescue the woman, but it was reported that she later died from her injuries at the hospital.

A dog also died in the fire.

A second alarm was dispatched bringing additional units into the city to be on stand by.

Crews were at the scene most of the night.

The American Red Cross is assisting 7 after the fire.
