Crash Knocks Out Utility Pole Overnight in Mahanoy Township

No injuries were reported in a crash on Park Place Road in Mahanoy Township early Sunday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred on Park Place Road around 2:30am near Mahanoy City when James Wall, 28, of Mahanoy City, was travelling north and failed to make a left turn on the untreated icy/snow covered road.

Wall's Jeep Grand Cherokee slid off the road and struck a PP&L pole.

Wall or his passenger, Michael Wall, 26, did not receive any injuries.  The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene.

Park Place Road was still closed as of 10:00am, Sunday, due to the downed utility pole.  Mahanoy Township Police told residents to use Delano Road as a detour until the pole is replaced and the road reopens.
