Meuser Congressional Office Announces Hiring of New Director of Community Development

On Monday, the Office of Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) announced that Tom Gerhard will today join the office as Director of Community Development.

Gerhard’s role with Congressman Meuser’s District Offices will include working with local chambers of commerce, business organizations, elected officials, associations, and community clubs to serve the constituents of Pennsylvania’s Ninth District.

Gerhard, a lifelong resident of Weatherly, Pa. and graduate of Weatherly Area High School, most recently served an impressive eight-year tenure as a Carbon County Commissioner. Gerhard brings with him a record of significant accomplishments, including Carbon County’s strong economy, booming tourism, and manufacturing growth. In fact, Gerhard and his fellow commissioners were recently commended by the National Association of Counties for Carbon County’s balanced economy. His experience living and working in the district makes Gerhard an unmatched leader in connecting with neighboring counties, community organizations, and local government to accomplish mutually beneficial goals.

His lifetime of community service includes 12 years as a Packer Township Supervisor (holding the position of chairman for seven years), volunteerism with the Marian Catholic Booster Club, the Knights of Columbus, and his local church. Gerhard and his wife of 40 years, Sue Ann, have two daughters and a grandson.

“I am happy for Tom to join our team. His impressive background will benefit constituents immensely throughout Pennsylvania’s Ninth District,” said Meuser. “Tom’s local ties and community involvement bring unparalleled experience to our team. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish for Pennsylvania in 2020 and beyond.”
