No Injuries in Tractor Trailer Crash that Closed Interstate 81 Overnight

No injuries reported in crash that closed Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County overnight.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 9:00pm in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 136.8 in Kline Township near McAdoo.

Police say a tractor trailer, drive by Erisbel Morales Alvarez, 45, of Houston, TX, was travelling northbound during a snow squall and the highway became slippery.

Morales Alvarez's trailer was also empty, limiting traction and began to lose control, swaying, and fishtailing.

The tractor trailer slid off the right side of the highway, struck a guiderail, and jackknifed across the highway blocking both northbound lanes.

Morales Alvarez and his passenger Ramon Ramirez Hidalgo, 31, of Miami Gardens, FL,  were not injured.

State Police said Morales Alvarez will be cited for not driving at a safe speed.

Interstate 81 northbound was closed for almost 4 hours while the crash was cleared.
