Driver Runs Red Light and Causes Crash on Route 61 near Mount Carbon Arch

A man ran a red light and caused a crash on Route 61 on Friday.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on Friday, February 14th, 2020 around 7:00pm, a crash occurred on Route 61 at the intersection with Mount Carbon Arch Road in North Manheim Township.

Police say the crash occurred when Stephen Lagaza, 58, of Schuylkill Haven was traveling through the intersection when the light was red.  As Lagaza went through the intersection, his Chevrolet Lumina struck an Audi A6 traveling south on Route 61, being driven by Anne Connors, 59, of Pottsville.

Connors had the right of way with a green light at the intersection.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage, but no injuries were reported and both were wearing their seatbelts.

Police say Lagaza was found to be under the influence of Marijuana.

Hammers Towing and JJ Tires assisted with towing at the scene.
