Man Wanted by Pottsville Police in Custody After Attempting to Flee

Earlier this week, the Pottsville Police issued two bench warrants for two men wanted for not appearing for court.  One was taken into custody on Friday.


According to Pottsville Police, an arrest warrant for Archie Dominic Ciccanti (in red shirt) following his Burglary jury conviction earlier this week.

According to the Tilden Township Police Department in Berks County, on Friday, February 14th, 2020 around 9:17pm, Tilden Township Police were requested to contact the Schuylkill County Detectives Office relative to a wanted male whose cellular phone location was pinging at the MicroTel Inn & Suites, 50 Industrial Drive, Tilden Township, Hamburg, PA.

At around 9:30pm, Tilden Township Police and Hamburg Borough Police went to the MicroTel Inn & Suites to locate Ciccanti who was in a first-floor room.

Around 9:40pm, it was discovered that the male damaged a window screen in order to escape his room.

He was spotted running into the nearby wooded area on Lowland Road and Industrial Drive after ignoring police commands to stop.

Police officers from Hamburg Borough Police, State Police – Hamburg Station, State Police – Schuylkill Haven Station, Bethel Township Police, Tulpehocken Township Police, Muhlenberg Township Police, Northern Berks Regional Police, Bern Township Police, West Reading Borough K9, Upper Macungie Township Police K9 (Lehigh County), Schuylkill County Detectives and the Berks County Sheriff’s Office assisted Tilden Township Police with setting up a perimeter around the wooded area that the male was hiding in.

Around 11:59pm, officers began hearing Ciccanti yell that his leg was in pain.

Around 12:01am, Ciccanti was taken into custody. No weapon was located on him after a thorough search.

Ciccanti was transported by ambulance to the Reading Hospital where he was treated for hypothermia related injuries as a result of him hiding a portion of the time in a small body of water in the woods. The Schuylkill County Detectives Office retained custody of Ciccanti while he was being treated.

Ciccanti is currently in Schuylkill County Prison due to his failure to appear for trial.

Buddy Charles Noel (in blue) is still at large.
