Anna Mae Yushinsky, 97, Quakake, PA, passed away Saturday, February 1st.

Anna was born in Hazleton, PA on December 22, 1922, a daughter of the late Mary Christina Denar.

She was wife of the late Andrew Yushinsky.

She and her husband owned and operated Andy’s Bar in Tamaqua for many years.

Anna is survived by a daughter, Carol Boyer, of Quakake. She is also survived by Grandson James Lawall and his wife Karen of Barnesville, 2 great granddaughters Alyssa McLaughlin and her husband Norman of Port Carbon, Brittany Miller and her husband Archie of Ashland, and 2 great great granddaughters Ava and Ellie Miller.

Interment will be private at convenience of the Family.

Raymond P. Kostick, 73, formerly of Gilberton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22nd at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Ray was an Army veteran and a life member of the Frackville American Legion Post 398. He loved playing softball as well as coaching his kids in softball and baseball.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday February 8th from St. Joseph the Worker Parish (St. Ann’s Church) at 11 a.m. with pastor, Rev. Brian Miller, as the celebrant. Friends are invited to his visitation at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville on Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held with military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville on Monday February 10th at 1 p.m.

Harry W. Roberts, 71, of Pottsville passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest surrounded by his wife and friend.

Born in Pottsville on September 4, 1948, he was the son of the late Harry and Katherine (Brennan) Roberts.

He retired from Brush Wellman Inc., Shoemakersville as an extrusion operator.

Harry enjoyed fixing older TVs and working on electronics. He was the owner of Harry’s TV Repair in Palo Alto and he was also the original owner of the Mr. Softee Ice Cream Truck. He was responsible for bringing the truck to Schuylkill County.

He also owned the former Downtown Dairy which was located in downtown Pottsville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Roberts and brother, Thomas Roberts.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Roberts; sons, Harry Jr. and Matthew Roberts; daughter, Francine Roberts; and numerous grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Sharon Roberts, Katherine Chaklos wife of Joe, John Roberts, Richard Roberts husband of Linda, Cindy Pappas wife of Demetrius; and family friend, Carol Martin.

Funeral Services will be private and have been entrusted to Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville.

Margaret Mistysyn, 86, Pottsville died Sunday February 2 at Lehigh Valley Health- East Norwegian Campus.

Born December 12, 1933 in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia (Hudon) Grava.

Margaret was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Clair and a former member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Clair. She worked in the local garment industry and at the former Mootz’ Candies, Pottsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve in 2016. She is the last member of her immediate family.

Margaret is survived by sons Stephen, Glen Burnie, MD and Scott, Hamburg; daughter Susan, Pottsville; granddaughter Tanya, Wintergarden FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Requiem Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:30AM Friday February 7 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Clair. Msgr. Myron Grabowski, Off. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects 8:30AM to 10 AM Friday morning at the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 W. Market St. Pottsville PA 17901. Interment will be held on the grounds of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, St. Clair.

The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions to St. Jude’s Research Hospital in memory of Margaret.

Patricia A. Bitel, RN, 71 of Shenandoah passed away on Monday morning, February 3, 2020 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.

Born in Shenandoah on June 19, 1948 she was a daughter of the late Edward J. Bitel, Sr. and Anna J. (Kramer) Bitel who preceded her in death last Monday, January 27, 2020.
Pat was a 1966 graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School and a 1969 graduate of the former Hazleton State General Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a retired registered nurse (RN) having last been employed as a supervisor at former Hazleton General Hospital where she worked for over 40 years.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah formerly St. Stanislaus Church where she was a member of the Rosary and Sacred Heart Societies. Pat enjoyed her many trips to the casinos and supporting the annual summer block parties in Shenandoah. She was an avid international traveler and a diehard New York Yankees and Giants fan. Pat was a nature enthusiast and enjoyed spending time at her cabin and the surrounding woods outside of Ringtown. She was an animal lover and advocate; she especially loved the basset hounds she had throughout her life and now her pet cat, “Muffin”.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 9:00 am in St. Casmir’s Church, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 8:00 am until 9:00 am in St. Casimir’s Church, Shenandoah.Surviving are her brother, Edward J. Bitel, Jr. and his wife Terry of Lancaster; two nephews, David Bitel and Brad Hilton; two nieces, Brenda Perez and Trisha Unrath; great nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Shyllee Junette Fidler, infant daughter of Anita M Bixler of Hegins, and Matthew G Fidler of Pine Grove, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 at Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her maternal grandmother, Andrea Klinger of Spring Glenn; maternal grandfather, Matthew Bixler of Pine Grove; maternal great grandmother, Darlene Klinger of Hegins; paternal grandmother, Lorrie Renninger of Hegins; paternal grandfather, Kerry Fidler of Pine Grove; two paternal great grandmothers, June Renninger of Schuylkill Haven, and Janet Fidler of Pine Grove.

A memorial service will be held at the Sacramento Fire Company, on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 2:00 pm.

Dwayne E. Wetzel, 49, of Wilburton, PA passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020 at his home.

Born December 3, 1970 in Shamokin the son of the late George Wetzel and June (Feger) and Ronald Martello.

Dwayne graduated from Mount Carmel High School and attended the Vo-Tech in the machine shop. He worked as an operator at International Paper for many years. Dwayne was a member of the Clover Hose, Atlas, and Natalie Fire Companies. He was also a member of the Mount Carmel Eagles where he played and was on a shuffleboard team. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers.

Along with Dwayne's parents, he was preceded in death by nephews: Leon Fite Jr. and Darrel Fite. Niece: Brenda Bendas-Costa.; and he is finally now with his cousin: Scotty Weikel.

Surviving are his companion of 13 years and love of his life: Liz Jones of Wilburton. Step-daughter: Kaitlin Jones of Bloomsburg. Brothers and sisters: Leon Fite Sr. and fiance Sharon of Frackville; Annette Beury and fiance Ken of Atlas; Mel Wetzel and fiance Linda of Coal Run; Rennee Lahr and husband Joey of Mount Carmel. Nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Also surviving are his fur babies/dogs: Tucker, Abbey, and Ody.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 7, 2020 at Rothermel-Heizenroth Funeral Services, Mt. Carmel with Rev. Joan Brown officiating. Interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Viewing 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, February 6 and 10:00 AM until the time of service Friday, February 7 both at Rothemel-Heizenroth Funeral Services, Mt. Carmel.
