Eva Rebecca Reed, 63, of Hamburg, passed away Saturday, March 7, at home surrounded by her family.

Born Nov. 16, 1956, in Drehersville, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Smith) Reed.

She was the widow of David Reed, who passed away May 22, 2000.

In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her first son, Lil' David Reed; brother, Arthur Reed; her mother- and father-in-law, George and Beatrice Reed.

She had been employed as an airline custodian and a waitress.

Eva's family meant the world to her. Her survivors include a son, Daniel F. Reed and wife, Emily, of Auburn; two sisters, Becky Schaeffer and Dottie Christman; a brother, Mark Reed; grandson, Charlie Reed; sisters-in-law, Barbara Reed and Caryn Reeser; brother-in-law, Ronald Reed; nieces, nephews and their children; her granddog, who she affectionately called g baby, Sophie.

A true animal lover, Eva's family requests donations in her memory to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901. Services and interment will be privately held at the family's convenience.

Catherine Hannah Lang, 96, formerly of Pottsville, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Nottingham Village Nursing Home in Northumberland, PA.

Born at home in Pottsville, December 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Tritschler Rhody. With the exception of the last few years at Nottingham Village and previously at her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Liverpool, she lived in Pottsville all her life.

Catherine graduated from Pottsville High School in 1941. On July 12, 1943, she married Wilbert “Dink” Lang, who preceded her in death on January 8, 1985.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was previously active in the Joy Circle. Over the years, Catherine worked several jobs including at the Farmer’s Market, and Pottsville High School in the cafeteria, but primarily, she was a homemaker to her husband, children, and the generations that followed. Her home was often the center of family gatherings where love, laughter, great food, and a lively game would be found.

Catherine enjoyed Classic Hollywood movies, reading books, working puzzles, and playing games of any kind, but her favorite one was Chinese Checkers: a game she took to a whole new level and became known as “the master” to her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Catherine was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Heinbach; grandson, Stephen Toth; sister’s Betty (Bert) Strausser, and Helen (Laurin) Edmonds.

Catherine is survived by daughter, Marilyn (Jack) Toth; sons, William (Rhonda) Lang, Scott (Tracy) Lang, and son-in-law, Robert Heinbach. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tammy Schneider; Greg Toth; James Heinbach; Dave (Amy) Heinbach and Carolyn (Ray) Beltz; Christa Cooper and Stacy (Jeremy) Roush; and Austin Boyer, nineteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 11:30am on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville with Pastor John Wallace officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park LLC, Schuylkill Haven.

Erika L. Stangel-Seasock, 54 of Pottsville, died peacefully Saturday at home.

She was born July 20, 1965 in Pottsville a daughter of Joseph and Dorothy Hahner Stangel, Pottsville.

She was a graduate of Pottsville Area Hight School.

She was employed by Schoenemen Beauty Supply, Pottsville and worked part-time at Murphy Jewelers, Hamburg.

Erika was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband whom she would have celebrate 22 years of marriage with on July 3, Michael Seasock, Pottsville a son, Michael Felker, and his wife Amanda, West Lafayette, Indiana; aunts, uncles, & cousins.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11AM from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30AM until the time of Mass. Interment will be in St. John No. 2 Cemetery, Pottsville.

Arrangements are under the care of James B. Humphrey, F.D., James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.

Jude J. Grassa, 59, of St.Clair, died Saturday March 7, 2020 at his home.

Born in Pottsville, April 6, 1960, He was a son of the late John A. and Annette (Gretsky) Grassa.

He was a 1978 graduate of St. Clair Area High School and a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church where he played the Organ for many years.

Jude was the owner and designer at the former Grassa Florist in St. Clair.

He was preceded in death by a sister Jaqueline Agosti.

Surviving are daughter Janalene Grassa of New Philadelphia;the joy of his life, granddaughter Gracyn Stiles brother Gereon Grassa of St. Clair; sister Greta Thode of Boise, ID; granddaughter Gracyn Stiles; Companion Laura Pernick of St. Clair; Nieces and Nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday March 12, 2020 from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair. Msgr. William F. Glosser and Rev. Leo Maletz will be officiating Con – Celebrants. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday and 11:30AM -12:30 PM at Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home 110 N. 2nd St. Saint Clair. In lieu of flowers, bring more flowers. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery #2, Minersville.

Meghan Marie McShaw, age 35, of Shamokin, PA passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 5th, 2020 at her home. Born in Pottsville, PA on May 1, 1984, she was the daughter of Stephen L. McShaw and his wife Tammy of Schuylkill Haven and the late Kayann Shirey.

Meghan was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School, Class of 2003. She liked dancing and riding on motorcycles.

Meghan is survived by two sons: Brayden and Owen; a sister Stephanie Evans; a brother Stephen Evans; two nephews: Cameron Zucal and Stephen Evans Jr; a niece Lilah Evans; an aunt Kim Adamson; and an uncle Don Kline.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home Port Carbon at 10AM on Saturday, March 14th, with Rev. George Sommers officiating. Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday from 8:30-10AM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held in the Union Cemetery in Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help with Meghan's funeral costs to the Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home 208 Pike Street Port Carbon, PA 17965.
