Woman Defrauded Over $2,000 Through Scam

The Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an incident where a woman was defrauded out of over $2,000.


Police say, during the scam, an unknown suspect posed as the victim's friend to scam her out of money.

The suspect told the victim she could apply for a federal grant by sending $1,000 in exchange for $50,000.  The suspect continued asking the victim for more money via Cash App and various gift cards to ensure expeditious delivery, but failed to send her any grant money in return.

The victim was defrauded $2,050 total.
