An Ashland man is facing charges after an altercation led to him robbing a woman last week in Barry Township.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on April 8th, 2020 around 1:00am, Samuel Hepler, 22, of Ashland, and  a woman were engaged in a verbal argument on Mabel Road, Barry Township, when Hepler threatened to distribute sexually explicit photos of the woman.  The woman attempted to get help from Hepler's mother when he grabbed her phone and held her with his arms and pinned her to the ground.

During the altercation, Hepler took the woman's phone by force from her hand.

The woman was able to struggle with Hepler to free herself and flee to a neighbor's house and contact 911.

Hepler was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David J. Rossi on felony charges of robbery and misdemeanor charges of sexual extortion and theft by unlawful taking and harassment, who released Hepler on $50,000 unsecured bail.
