Rush Township Police Charge Port Carbon Woman with Retail Theft


A Port Carbon woman is facing charges of retail theft in Rush Township.

According to Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky, on April 14th, 2020 around 3:30pm. the Rush Township Police Department received a report of a Retail Theft in progress at 35 Plaza Drive. It was learned that Luisa Perez, 23, of Port Carbon tried to steal auto air fresheners and motor oil, but was apprehended by Asset Protection Associates before she could flee.

During the investigation it was learned that Perez was previously given written notice banning her from entering store property. The investigation also determined that Perez violated the Stay at Home Act issued by Governor Tom Wolf on 4-1-2020. 

Perez was charged with Retail Theft, Criminal Trespass, and violating the Stay at Home Act.

Perez will have to respond to these violations at Magisterial Distrct Judge Stephen Bayer’s office in Tamaqua.
