Schuylkill County Crash Log for 05/19/2020


Below is a collection of reports from recent crashes in Schuylkill County.







No Injuries Reported After Ringtown Man Rolls Vehicle in Union Township

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on Saturday, May 16th, 2020, around 1:00am, a crash occurred on Little Mountain Road near Hill Field Road in Union Township.

Police say the crashed occurred as Jeremy Pukavage, 27, of Ringtown was travelling on Little Mountain Road.  While making a left turn in the roadway, Pukavage crossed over the centerline, drove off the road, struck a rock/embankment and rolled his Ford Escape on it's passenger side.

When police and emergency personnel arrived at the scene there were no driver or passengers at the scene.

Ringtown Fire, Shenandoah EMS, and Stauffer's towing assisted at the scene.

DUI Suspected in Peach Mountain Crash in Norwegian Township

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred on Thursday, May 14th, 2020, just before 2:00am on Peach Mountain Road in Norwegian Township.

Police say the crash occurred when Dawn Newberry, 20, of Frackville, was travelling north and struck a utility pole near 1141 Peach Mountain Road.

Newberry's Ford Focus came to a final rest at the point of impact.

Newberry was wearing her seatbelt and refused transport for any injuries, but DUI was suspected in the crash.

The Ford Focus sustained heavy front end damage and required towing from the scene.

Assisting State Police at the scene were the Pottsville Police and Womer's Towing.

No Injuries Reported in Upper Mahantango Township Crash

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred on Sunday, May 17th, 2020 around 1:15pm on Mahantango Mountain Road near Rough and Ready.

Police say the crash occurred when Clayton Bixler, 45, of Hegins, was travelling southbound when for unknown reasons traveled across the roadway and dropped down an embankment

Bixler's Subaru Baja sustained disabling front end damage and was towed from the scene by A&F Moters.

Bixler was not present at the scene when police arrived.

DUI Suspected in Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 895 in Wayne Township

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred on Saturday, May 16th, 2020 around 10:45pm on Fair Road/Route 895 at the intersection with Moyers Station Road in Wayne Township.

Police say the crash occurred as Jonathan Banket, 37, of Schuylkill Haven was travelling north on Moyer's Station Road and arrived at the stop sign.

Banket entered the intersection and was struck by Slade Baker, 25, of Schuylkill Haven traveling on Fair Road.

Banket's vehicle sustained damage to the right side of the front bumper and front tire area while Baker's vehicle sustained heavy damage tot he left side and front bumper.

Both vehicles were towed from he scene by Moyer's Car Care.

No injuries were reported at the scene but Banket was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.
