Marlys (Molly) Jones, 89, of Schuylkill Haven passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18th at Broad Mountain Manor in Frackville, PA.

Born in Waterloo, Iowa on October 1, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Emma (Buchan) and Oscar Loeb.

She was the widow of Daniel C. Jones.

She was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Sch. Haven. She was formerly employed by the Walk-In Shoe Company and also part-time at Haven Pizza and Boyer’s Deli. She later worked full time at Holy Family Assisted Living until the age of 80. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

Molly’s favorite hobbies were shopping, concerts, bingo, bowling, visiting casinos, and family trips to Dollywood and Myrtle Beach.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Dorothy Ames, Arthur Loeb, and Loris Loeb.

Molly is survived by two daughters; Sandra, wife of John Houck, South Carolina; and Cheryl, wife of Edward Sirianni, Sch. Haven; and a son, Monte, husband of Jean (Runkle), Sch. Haven.
She is also survived by two grandchildren; Kristian Houck, Colorado, and Jeffrey Zemencik, Maryland; great-grandchildren Joshua and Gavin Zemencik, Maryland; sister Edith Breidigan, Pine Grove; many nieces and nephews; and grand dog Bear.

A private interment will be held at Schuylkill Memorial Park in Sch. Haven, PA. A memorial service at Jerusalem Lutheran Church will be held at a later date.

James J. “Cookie” Prosper, 89, of Arnots Addition, St. Clair, passed peacefully Sunday May 17, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in New Castle Twp., May 27, 1930, he was a son of the late Francis and Martha (Stefansky) Prosper.

Jim was a graduate of the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Philadelphia. He retired after having worked many years at the former St. Clair Garment, St. Clair.

He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair; as well as a member of Arnots Game and Sports Association.

Jim was a lifelong Yankees and Eagles fan, and he enjoyed fishing trips with his buddies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers Joseph, Francis “Chippy”, and David; and an infant sister Frances.

Surviving are sister Gloria Berdanier, St. Clair; sister-in-law Janet Prosper, St. Clair; 4 nieces: Gloria Brensinger (Randy), Schuylkill Haven; Michele Jones (Donald), Barnesville; Danielle Brennan (Thomas), Ohio; Cheryl Prosper, St. Clair; 2 nephews: Eugene Berdanier (Maureen), Pottsville; David Prosper, St. Clair; 7 great nieces and nephews: Rochelle, Marcella, Jessica, Lauren, Emma, Ethan, and Jaimani.

Private Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair, with The Rev. Msgr. William F. Glosser officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Clare of Assisi Memorial Fund at the above address. Burial will be in St. Mary RC Cemetery, St. Clair.

of Mahanoy City died May 13, 2020 just 3 days before her 105th birthday. She was born May 16, 1915 in Meadowbrook, West Virginia and moved with her family to Mahanoy City in 1924. She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Rafaela Gonzales. She was a homemaker and a seamstress and was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union until she retired from Eagle Brothers Shirt Factory formerly in Mahanoy City. She was also a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City, the Golden Age Club and the Mahanoy Area Senior Citizens.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband Nick, a sister Katherine Fernandez, brothers Joseph, Manuel, Emil, Albert and Theodore, a grandson Daniel and a great granddaughter Kate. 

She is survived by her remaining brother Ralph, her daughter Dolores and her son Robert. 

Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

, 66, Aristes passed away Saturday May 16th at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East, Pottsville. Jacqueline M. Boylan

 Born in Girardville, she was a daughter of the late John and Loretta Sabi Kudrick. She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church Girardville, now St. Charles Borromeo Parish. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Daniel T. Boylan and her son Daniel Boylan. Jacqueline is survived by her two sons: Sean Boylan, Tampa, FL and Jesse Boylan, Aristes.

Ruth E. Messner Bender, 96, of Tower City, passed away Monday, May 18th at Heritage Mill Personal Care Home.


Born in Philadelphia, August 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Klinger MacGlaughlin.

Ruth graduated in 1941 from Tower City High School and in 1945 from West Chester State Teachers College. She served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City and 73 year member of the Glen Chapter #425, Order of Eastern Star, Lykens.

Ruth was a retired elementary school teacher for the Williams Valley School District.

In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by husbands Mark Messner, 1979 and Harold Bender, 2010.

She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Herb and her husband Jim, Wiconisco and Jane Golliday and her husband Keith, Gerarrdstown, WV; two step-daughters, Carol Condran and her husband Oliver and Linda Keen and her husband Darryl, both of Middletown; two granddaughters, Mary Kinnie and her husband Donald and Daisy Golliday (Zachary Wigfield) both of WV; two great grandsons, Marshall and Lionel Kinnie.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., with Pastor Laura Csellak officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Elwood W. “Woody” Steigerwalt, 79, of Andreas, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020, in his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Mary (Wagner) Steigerwalt. They were married on September 16, 1961 and celebrated 58 years of marriage. 

Prior to retiring, he was employed by PPL as an electrician for 40 years. Previously he co-owned the former Steigerwalt Meats, Tamaqua. Born in West Penn Township, he was the son of the late Walter D. and Alma (Eberts) Steigerwalt. He was a member of Ben Salem UCC, Lehighton. He was an Army veteran having attained the rank of Sergeant and he also completed NCO training. The biggest love in his life was his family and his willingness to help others. 

Woody was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the NRA. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest, and Edwin, two sisters, Mary Kunkle and Mildred Kleinhagen. 

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Steven and his wife, Brandi, of Lehighton; a daughter, Pamela, wife of Pedro Morales, of Schuylkill Haven; two sisters, Maralyn Miller, of Lehighton and Joyce Kleinhagen, of Reading; six grandchildren, Kelsey, Alexis, Dakota, Donovan, Morgan, and Savanna, great granddaughter, Valerie, and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Ben Salem UCC, Lehighton, with Rev Michael McGowan officiating. Lorraine G. Zeigler, 91, of Andreas, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Lehighton. She was the wife of Ernest D. Zeigler. They were married on March 11, 1962 and celebrated 58 years of marriage. She dedicated her life to working on the family farm with her husband. Prior to that, she worked at the former Palmer Shirt Factory and Barson and Co., Palmerton. Born in Palmerton on January 30, 1929, she was the daughter to the late Adam and Eva (Buck) George. She was a member of Zion’s Stone Church of West Penn Township. Lorraine was a member of the former Friendship Grange, Ashfield, Towamensing Grange and a National Pomona Grange member. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also loved farm animals and her dog, Tillie. 

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wellington and Clark, a sister, Elizabeth, and two sisters-in-law, Lorrie and Hazel George. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Adam and his wife Susan, of New Ringgold, and David, of Andreas; two daughters, Betty, wife of William Bittermann, of Barto, and Doris, wife of Dale Kressley, of Andreas; three brothers, Kenneth, and his wife Loretta, Elbert, and his wife Josephine, and Richard; a sister Shirene George; a sister-in-law, Jean George, all of Palmerton; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. 

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Russell Campbell officiating. Interment, Zion’s Stone Church Cemetery.
