Man Locked up in Schuylkill County Prison for Burglary in Girardville

A man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison for breaking into and entering a home in Girardville on Friday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on Friday, June 19th, 2020 around 10:00am, State Troopers responded to a home on West Main Street in Girardville for a burglary.

Through an investigation it was determined that George Hepler, 33, of Girardville, gained entry through a basement window.

The homeowner heard Hepler, and after approaching him a verbal altercation took place in the rear of the home.  Hepler than fled the area leaving behind the stolen items.

During the incident Hepler attempted to steal a fishing tackle box and damaged the window frame when he broke in.

Hepler was later located and taken into custody.

Hepler was charged with felony charges of burglary and criminal trespass, a misdemeanor charge of theft by unlawful taking, and criminal mischief.

Hepler was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $25,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 24th, 2020.
