UPDATE: Massachusetts Man Lands Plane on Interstate 81 After Running Out of Fuel

A plane made an emergency landing along Interstate 81 in Foster Township Friday evening.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the incident occurred around 6:00pm on Friday when Edward Bulgar, of Newburyport, MA, was attempting to land at Joe Zerby Airport in Foster Township and ran out of gas forcing him to land on the nearby Interstate near mile marker 111 between the Hegins and Minersville exits.

Bulgar was not injured and the plane was not damaged in the incident.

Pine Grove Towing was brought to the scene to provide fuel for the plane and Troopers escorted the plane  for approximately 4 miles back to Joe Zerby Airport.

The incident was turned over to the FAA.
