Edna G. Brower, 85, Pottsville, died Wednesday at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Joseph J. “Jim” Lowthert, 81, of Minersville passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at his residence.

Born on June 15, 1939 in Pottsville, he was the son of the late William H. and Berth (Frantz) Lowthert.

He was a graduate of Pottsville High School and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.

Jim retired from the Pennsylvania State Police after 26 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Kitty Schafer; brothers, William, Ray, and Clyde Lowthert.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret Ann (Harley) Lowthert; son, James W. Lowthert and his companion Rosie; daughter, Susan L. wife of Robert Wentz, Jr.; grandchildren, Jessica wife of Matthew Paulis, Kirk Gottshall husband of Nicole; step granddaughter, Kaylei Wentz. He was also survived by three great grandsons, Wyatt, Jackson, and Brooks; sister, Mary Young; nieces and nephews.

Theresa P. Coreia, 95, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Monday, July 27th, at her residence.

Born in Marion Heights, on April 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Rose (Mariano) and Frank Angelo.

She was the widow of Joseph Coreia.


She was a former member of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland (formerly Saint Joseph's), where she was also a member of the choir.


Theresa is survived by two daughters, Virginia Chillis, of Ashland and
Theresa Lonergan, of Schuylkill Haven; and two sons John, husband of
Peggy Coreia, of Schuylkill Haven and Joe Coreia, of Ashland.

She is also survived by grandchildren Janet Chillis Dooner wife of Mike,
Robert Chillis husband of Michelle, Brian Lonergan, Tommy Lonergan, Mike
Lonergan husband of Katie, Amy Coreia Dillman wife of Vernon, Mike
Coreia and Jess, Stephanie Coreia and Steve and his children Michelle
and Dean and Kayla Coreia and Greg; great grandchildren Tyler, Kyle, Zachary,
Molly, Samantha, Kiera, Emily, Shae, Eve, Hailey, Olivia and Mackenzie.
She also loved her many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her nine siblings.

Due to the current pandemic, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held
privately.

Mary J. Cappel
, 78, of Pottsville, passed away Monday, July 27th, at Schuylkill Center, Schuylkill County.

Born in Pottsville, on October 20, 1941, of the late Madelyn (Wagner) and William S. Whyte.

She was the wife of Ronald Cappel.

She was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1960 and the Ford School of Business in 1961. She was formerly employed by the Argo Store, Pottsville and Dollar General, Cressona.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister Ada Horn wife of John, Lebanon; nephews Christopher M. Horn, Lebanon and Geoffery W. Horn, Greensboro, NC; grand nieces Amanda Kohr and Chloe Horn; great grand nephew Michael Fario-Kohr; sisters in law Beverly Whyte and Carol Whyte, both of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her brothers William C. and Richard J. Whyte.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hillside SPCA, PO Box 233, Pottsville PA 17901 or Schuylkill Center, 1000 Schuylkill Manor Road, Pottsville PA 17901.

Services will be held privately.

Larry D. "Skip" Nagle, 65, of Tremont, passed away Tuesday, July 28th, at his residence.

Born in Reading, on May 30, 1955, a son of the late Kathryn C. (King) Gross and Lawrence Nagle.

He was the owner and operator of his own lawn and garden business.

Larry is survived by a daughter, Jessice Freymoyer wife of Kevin, of Tremont; grandchildren Madison and Logan Crosby, Draven Roth and Nicholas Novak; and a half sister Barbara Zimmerman, East Earl.

Services will be held privately.

Patricia M. Schaeffer
, 76, of Lehighton, PA died on Monday, July 27, 2020 at home. She was the wife of Howard C. Schaeffer, Sr. to whom she was married 56 years. 

Born in Liverpool, England on May 22, 1944, Patricia was a daughter of the late James Richard, Sr. and Mary Patricia (nee McKay) Whitehead. A graduate of Summit Hill High School, Summit Hill, PA, Patricia co-owned and operated H. C. Schaeffer Plumbing and Heating along with her husband. She was a member of The Parish of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua, PA; the C.W.E.A. of St. Jerome Catholic School, Tamaqua; the Summit Hill High School Girls Night Out; the TransAtlantic War Brides; and the South Ward Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Tamaqua. 

She is survived by children, Patty Bernadyn and her husband Mike of Georgia, Howard C. Schaeffer, Jr. of Zionsville, PA, Lori Suzadail and her husband Vincent, III of Coaldale, PA, and Scott C. Kemp of Zionsville; grandchildren, Michael Bernadyn, Meredith Bryson, Karyssa Costagliola, Paul Suzadail, and Tyler Suzadail; great grandchildren, Bryce Costagliola, Annaliese Costagliola, Malakai Bryson, Tydus Bryson, Anorah Bryson, and Dominick Bryson; a brother; 2 sisters; and numerous nephews and nieces. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2020 in St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 307 Pine Street, Tamaqua. Call 6-8 PM on Friday, July 31 and 9:30-10:30 on Saturday August 1 at the Zizlemann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua.

Box 406, Gilbertsville, PA 19525 OR The Chapel of the Four Chaplains, 1201 Constitution Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19112. Earl H. Boettger
, 96 years of age of Market Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Wed July 29, 2020, at Hometown Nursing Home in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania after a short illness.

Born Tuesday, July 8, 1924 in Tamaqua the son of the late Albert and Anna (Schmauch) Boettger. Earl was predeceased by his wife Betty L. (Essington) Boettger on October 20, 2014.

He is survived by his brother, Robert F. Boettger of Tamaqua; many nieces and nephews.

A Tamaqua High School graduate, Earl retired after a long career on the Railroad. He was an active member of St. John U.C.C. of Tamaqua and belonged to the Tamaqua Masonic Lodge # 238 for many years, having held many chairs. Earl served honorably in the United States Army

Joshua R. McArdle
, 29 years of age formerly of Tamaqua, died on Monday, July 27, 2020, at home in Palo Alto.

Born Thursday, May 16, 1991 in Hazleton, son of the late Vincent G., and Jennifer E. (Barron) McArdle.

Surviving are his children; Hunter, Emily, Ember; maternal grandparents, Robert and Judy (Felker) Barron of Tamaqua; paternal grandmother, Peggy L. (Eroh) McArdle of Tamaqua; brother, Justin E. McArdle; nephew Lyrik McArdle; companion, Rayanne Ferhat; aunts uncles and cousins also survive Joshua.

Josh attended Tamaqua Schools. He was a talented artist, accomplished glass blower and painter. He liked to listen to music and was a fan of the Grateful Dead.

Robert Charles (Bob) Smith, Sr.
, 94 of Tamaqua, PA (formerly of Palmerton) died of COVID-19 on July 29, 2020.

Bob was born on February 27, 1926 in Philadelphia to Clement Leon Haines Smith and May Lorraine Jones Smith. Along with his parents, Bob was predeceased by his first and second wives, Patricia Eacret Smith and Mae Hollenbach Smith, his son, Robert C. (RC) Smith, Jr., and brothers Richard and Jerry Smith.

He is survived by daughters Cheryl R. Wamser (Garry) of Bloomsburg, Cynthia L. Carey of Woodbridge, VA, Sandy Hauck (Donald) of Tamaqua, Linda Dunlap of Mt. Penn, daughter-in-law Joanne Lawrence Smith of La Plata, MD, and sons Gregory C. Smith (Lena) of Tamaqua, John H. Hollenbach of Tamaqua, James W. Hollenbach (Karen) of Orwigsburg, and William H. Hollenbach (Larisa) of Reading. He is also survived by a brother, David A. Smith (Joyce) of Philadelphia, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his and Mae’s most recent dog, Snuggles, for whom he served as “emotional support person”.

Bob served in the Navy during World War II, where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He also worked in Tule, Greenland for RCA. Bob was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a skilled craftsman and woodworker, an avid bowler, and always followed the Stock Market. He especially loved all of his dogs throughout the years.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors bestowed will be held on Tuesday August 4, 2020 at 11 o'clock A.M. from Sky View Memorial Park Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.

Robert R. McNevich, 65, of Shenandoah, passed away on Monday, July 27th at Providence Place in Pottsville, Pa.

Born in Shenandoah, he was the son of the late Raymond J. and Florence (Kristopolski) McNevich.

Robert was a 1972 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School. He then worked for Mr. Hanger in Ringtown for many years. Robert was an avid fisherman.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters.

Surviving are his cousins and caregivers, Susan Fisher and Ellen Popson along with other cousins.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah on Monday, August 3rd from 8:30am to 10am with Scripture Services conducted at 10am by Msgr. Ronald Bocian. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Parish Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
