Warrant Issued for Man After Strangling Woman near Deer Lake

An warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Lehigh County man after he allegedly strangled a woman and stole her belongings near Deer Lake.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on July 5th, 2020, around 2:00am, Troopers responded to Centre Turnpike/Route 61 near Deer Lake for a domestic incident that just occurred.

Police learned through an investigation that Jose Rivera, 29, of Macungie physically assaulted a 28 year old woman that involved Rivera strangling her and stealing her cell phone and glasses.

Rivera fled the scene prior to police arriving.

A warrant has been issued for Rivera's arrest on charges of strangulation, simple assault, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief.
