Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for New STS Operations and Maintenance Facility

On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new state-of-the-art public transportation operations and maintenance facility that will be located at 300 Wade Road in St. Clair, PA.

The newly constructed 80,000 square foot facility will provide indoor-covered storage, modern maintenance bays and equipment, much more needed administration space and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling for the STS system to replace their current outdated and undersized facility in the St. Clair Industrial Park. The project is funded by federal, state, and local financing.

“SCTA’s objective is to enhance their ability to maintain a world-class transit system that would be able to service Schuylkill County with distinction and continue to sustain services that are safe, dependable and cost effective.” said Mr. Dave Bekisz, Executive Director of STS.

The Schuylkill County Transportation Authority completes on average, 1100 trips a day and employs over 70 employees with the Fixed Route, Shared Ride and ADA complimentary services.
