Pottsville Man Charged for Shooting BB Gun Outside Bar in Cressona

 A Pottsville man is facing charges after shooting a BB gun at a group of people outside a bar in Cressona last month.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on July 26th, 2020, troopers were dispatched to Front Street, Cressona, for a reports of shots fired outside the Hot Rod Bar and Grill..

Prior to Troopers arrival, the vehicle involved fled the scene.

While searching the area, troopers located the suspect's vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated.

As the vehicle was approached, Troopers observed what was later discovered to be a BB gun on the passenger side floor.

The suspect, Brian Peterson, 21, of Pottsville was taken into custody for terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment, and disorderly conduct charges.

Peterson was committed to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.  While at the hospital Peterson continued to make threats towards hospital staff.  Additional charges are to be filed.

On Thursday, August 13th, 2020, Peterson was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $7,500 cash bail.
