WEATHER ALERT: Flood Advisory Issued for Schuylkill County

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Schuylkill County.

* Flood Advisory for...
Schuylkill County in central Pennsylvania...

* Until 215 PM EDT.

* At 115 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain has started to taper off but gauge readings indicate that up to two inches of rain have already across much of the county. Expect minor flooding
in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pottsville, Tamaqua, Schuylkill Haven, Shenandoah, Minersville, Mahanoy City, Frackville, St. Clair, Orwigsburg, Mcadoo, Pine Grove, Port Carbon, Tremont, Hometown, Tuscarora, New Philadelphia,
Friedensburg, Grier City-Park Crest, Marlin and Altamont.

Very light light rain will last only another half of an hour or so. Expect any high water to subside quickly this afternoon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
