Theresa M. (Kachmar) Schropp
, 66, of Mahanoy City passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at her residence.

Born April 20, 1954, in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late John and Theresa (Museousky) Kachmar.

She was a graduate of Mahanoy Area and was a sewing machine operator until retirement at the former City Shirt in Frackville.

Theresa loved spending time with her granddaughters, Jordynn and Peyton.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother, Johnny Kachmar.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert P. Schropp; daughter, Sherry Ann wife of Christopher Primrose; granddaughters, Jordynn and Peyton Primrose; brother, Stephen Kachmar; sisters, Joann McElhenney, Marie Shamonsky, Loretta Davies, Verna Luchetta, and Annie Kachmar; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Ruth Emily Madenford, 90, of Pine Grove, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East, Pottsville.

Born on November 21, 1929 in Roedersville, she was a daughter of the late Charles Milton and Cora Roeder Spancake.

She was a member of Hetzel's UCC, Pine Grove.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Arlin M. Madenford; five brothers, Norman, Milton, F. Mason, Arthur, and Earl Spancake; two sisters, Alma Hummel and Lillian Doss.

Surviving are two sons, Lee Madenford and Richard Madenford; two daughters, Susan Brown and Deborah Mendinsky; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Hetzel's U.C.C. Memorial Fund, 261 Hetzel's Church Road Pine Grove, PA 17963 in her memory.

Verna L. Botek, 82, of Duncott, Cass Township, passed away on Tuesday surrounded by her family at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

Born in Black Diamond, Reilly Township, she was a daughter of the late John and Stella Essler Smith. She attended Reilly Township schools.


Preceding her in death was her husband of 54 years, Steve Botek, in 2012; a son, Stephen M. Botek, in 1988; three sisters, Mildred Hewes, Mary Hill and Rita Parobek.

Surviving are six children, Wayne, Florida, Anthony (Tammy), Harrisburg, Karen Zambiasi (Phillip), Minersville, twin sons, Kenneth, Duncott, and Kevin, Port Carbon, and Brian, Minersville; eight grandchildren, Steven and Melissa Botek, Olivia and Abigail Botek, Kayla O’Donnell, Kristen and Elissa Zambiasi and Alexis Botek; seven great-grandchildren, Makaya, Hayley, Madison, Kiera, Cameron, Brennan, Aiden, Arabella and Asher. She is also survived by three sisters, Alma Mishler, Minnesota, Kathryn Dankulich, Norwegian Township, and Geraldine Pauly, Branchdale; nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are incomplete.

Jeffrey T. Pendal
, 60 of Williamstown (Dayton), passed away very unexpectedly, Wednesday, September 2nd at his home.

Jeff was born in Harrisburg, January 16, 1960, a son of the late Joseph and Audrey Margetanski Pendal.

He was a 1978 graduate of the Upper Dauphin Area High School. Prior to his heart condition he had been a Supervisor with Metal Industries for over 20 years.

He was a lifelong and faithful member of Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church, Lykens. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2486 Lykens, where he was a third degree knight.

Jeff was an avid Penn State football fan. He enjoyed cooking and baking for his family, friends and the community, you never left "Pappy's Kitchen" hungry. He was the entertainer of the Pendal family. He was a wonderful and dedicated husband, dad, pap, brother, uncle and friend. He looked forward to following his grandson, Spencer in football and all his activities. Recently Jeff became very active in the SKIP Program, handing out food for those in need during the pandemic. He spent countless hours volunteering with the program, which brought him great pride and joy.

In addition to his parents, he was recently preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Pendal Jr., March 26, 2020.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Renee J. King Pendal; a son, Dustin Pendal, Williamstown; five grandchildren, Jessica Weinrich, Mackenzie, Aubrey, Bryce and Spencer Pendal; his two sisters, Beth Miller and her husband Jim, Harrisburg and Jean Marie Klinger and her husband Rich, Lykens. Nieces and nephews he adored.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, September 5th at 10:00 am from Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church, Lykens with Rev. Michael Opoki, AJ, as celebrant. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 9-10 at the church. Please follow CDC Guidelines. April M. Mahmod
, 36, of Shenandoah, tragically passed away on August 30th, 2020.

Born in Shenandoah on December 12th, 1983 she was the daughter of John and Carol (Glowacki) Mahmod of Shenandoah.

April was a graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School and McCann’s School of Business. She was currently employed by Lowe’s Distribution Center in Pottsville, Pa.

Surviving are her daughter, Jordyn Nevaeh Mahmod, who was the love of her life. Also surviving are her brother, Johnny Mahmod and his fiancĂ© Jessica Petchul of Shenandoah, a niece Malaya, who she loved dearly, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her cats whom she adored – Butterscotch, Jezzabelle, and Heidi.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 5th from 8am to 11am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture Services will be held at 11am. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Due to COVID-19, all recommended social distancing, mask requirements, and public safety guidelines will be followed.

Joseph C. DeFalco, 54, of Minersville, passed away Monday, August 31st, at Lehigh Valley Health Schuylkill East, Pottsville. 

Joseph was born in Pottsville, on July 25, 1966, a son of the late Carol (Webb) and Anthony W. DeFalco. 

Joseph is also survived by a sister, MaryAnn, wife of Alan Martell, two brothers, Anthony P, husband of Pamela DeFalco, Frank, husband of Lisa DeFalco. 

He is also survived by Nieces Jessica, wife of Steve Smith, Jaime Treagae & fiancee' Blake, Nephew, Jordan Treagae. Great nieces, nephews and cousins. 

All Services are private at the convenience of family. Interment St. Barbara Cemetery. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc. entrusted with the arrangements.
