Tremont Man Attempts to Flee State Police on a Scooter

A Tremont man lead State Police in a short pursuit on Tuesday in Tremont Township.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020 around 11:30pm, troopers were on patrol in the area of Tremont Road and Molleystown Road in Tremont Township.

Police say the troopers observed a scooter being operated with no taillights driving northbound on the southbound shoulder of Tremont Road.

Troopers activated their emergency lights, and after failing to stop, the man on the scooter attempted to flee into a wooded area near the Exxon Raceway.

The suspect drove into the wooded area and attempted to flee on foot.

Troopers attempted to take him into custody, and after a brief struggle, the suspect broke free and continued to flee on foot.

Troopers eventually used a taser after the suspect ignored verbal commands to stop and he was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was later identified as Dean Dubois, 40, of Tremont.

Dubois will face fleeing and eluding police as well as other charges.
