Mother and Son from Minersville Arrested for Methamphetamine Trafficking

A mother and son from Minersville are facing drug charges after a search warrant was executing on Wednesday.

According to Minersville Police Patrolman Jeffrey Bowers, on Wednesday, November 10th, 2020, around 8:30pm, police executed a search warrant at 340 Carbon Street, Minersville as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

While serving the warrant, police seized approximately 5.6 ounces of methamphetamine with a street value of $17,000 and $12,000 in cash.

The items were found within safes and in a bedroom inside the home.

As a result, Cory Hopkins, 32, and his mother Holly Belle Hopkins, 55, were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver, possession of a drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to commit possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.

Police say through the investigation, they learned that the mother and son worked together and ran a large scale methamphetamine trafficking operation from their home.  Police say Holly, the mother, would introduce Cory to high level drug traffickers in the Schuylkill County area and would then supply them with the methamphetamine.

Both were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David Plachko who locked them both up in Schuylkill County Prison after setting bail for each of them at $50,000 straight cash.

Assisting Minersville Police during the warrant were members from from the Schuylkill County Sheriff's Office and Ashland Police Department.
