Shenandoah's Skydiving Santa Cancelled for 2020; Mrs. T's and DSI Announce Safer Alternative

Mrs. T's and Downtown Shenandoah Inc. announced on Tuesday that the annual Skydiving Santa event will be canceled for 2020 but also announced a safer alternative.

Mrs. T’s Pierogies and Downtown Shenandoah, Inc. (DSI) are teaming up to kick off the Christmas season a little differently this year. Due to the ongoing pandemic and rising cases within Schuylkill County, the annual Skydiving Santa event has been shifted to a safer alternative.

Santa will parade through Shenandoah on top of the Polish American Fire Company’s antique firetruck starting at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 27th, 2020 with the Shenandoah Fire and Police Departments.

This year’s parade will be extended so those coming to greet Santa can maintain proper social distancing.

Starting on West Washington Street, the parade will turn on to Main Street, Cherry Street, Vine Street, Centre Street, Emerick Street, Coal Street and Stadium Road.

As a new addition this year to help spread Christmas cheer, Mrs. T’s Pierogies and DSI are excited to announce the installation of a Christmas Village next to DSI’s office in The Veterans Memorial Park, 116 N Main Street.

Along with Christmas music and décor, a magical mailbox will be set up for children to drop off their letters to Santa. Those that include a return address will even receive a postcard back from Santa Claus! Letters can be dropped off at the Christmas Village between November 27th and December 22nd.

“We are excited to work with DSI to welcome Santa, and the Christmas season, to Shenandoah safely. This year has required a lot of events to pivot, and we hope that our adjusted plan will still help local families create happy Christmas memories,” says Meghan Heim, Assistant Public Relations Manager, Mrs. T’s Pierogies.
