Residents of homes across multiple Schuylkill County communities are waking up without power on Christmas morning.
After the Christmas eve/Christmas morning rainfall left the ground and trees saturated, emergency personnel have been up all night clearing downed trees, and pumping basements.
The downed trees have knocked down multiple wires and have kept PPL busy.
As of 9:00am, PPL is reporting 554 homes without power across all of Schuylkill County with a majority of them being reported in West Penn Township.
PPL reports the following list of communities without power:
- West Penn Township - 315
- West Brunswick Township - 79
- Walker Township - 78
- East Brunswick Township - 31
- North Manheim Township - 15
- Rush Township - 12
- East Union Township - 7
- Pine Grove Township - 7
- Washington Township - 7
- Upper Mahantango - 2
- Eldred Township - 1
PPL crews have been dispatched with some outages being reported that they will be repaired by noon and others as late as 11:00pm.
