Harry Close, 79, of West West Terrace, Branch Township, passed away on Sunday at his home.

Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late John Harry Close, M.D. and the late Evelyn Mervine Close. He was a 1959 graduate of Minersville High School, and later earned his degree in Mechanical Drafting and Engineering from Penn State. He was the production manager for the former Hahn Fire Apparatus, Hamburg. He later owned and operated East Penn Fire and Emergency

He was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Minersville. He was also a member of the Good Intent Fire Company #1, Llewellyn.

Preceding him in death was his wife, the former Shirley Weismiller, in 2016; his brother, Daniel Close, in 1997.

Harry is survived by two daughters, Caryn Kiraly (spouse, Bryan), Wayne Township, and Caralyn Noel (spouse, Kirby), Oakland, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Christian, Lauren, Joshua, Jack and Eli.

Services are private.

Marilyn M Updegrave
, age 82, of Valley View, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born on Saturday, August 27, 1938, in Hegins Twp, a daughter of the late Homer J Klinger and the late Eva M (Lubold) Klinger.

Marilyn was a graduate of the Philadelphia School of the Deaf.

She was a seamstress for area garment factories prior to her retirement.

Marilyn enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts, cooking, and baking.

She is survived by her husband Harold R Updegrave, to whom she was married for 62 years.

She is also survived by four brothers, Bruce Klinger of Valley View, Ronald Klinger of Lincoln, Robert Klinger of Shillington, and Mark Klinger of Williamstown; a sister, Joan Stiely of Dornsife; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.

Avery Lynn Lee
, 4, of 11 Penny Lane., passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at her residence.

She was born in Hazleton on October 4, 2016, the daughter of Richard Lee and Crystal Dunlop.

Avery attended Child Development in Mahanoy City.

Avery was always happy and full of life. She loved playing with her microphone and baby dolls. She loved being the big sister and teaching her little sister new things. Avery loved going to school and learning. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, as she was the brightest light in the room. Avery, shine on.

Avery is survived by her mother, Crystal Dunlop; father, Richard Lee; a sister, Hannah Lee; paternal grandparents, Joseph & Paula (Mondick) Lee; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Sharon Dunlop; and great grandmother, Anna Mumie.
