Standoff Ends Peacefully in Ashland After Report of Shots Fired

A standoff ended peacefully in Ashland early Sunday.

According to Ashland Police Chief Ger Daley, on Sunday morning, around 1:00am, police responded to 539 Walnut Street for a report of shots fired.  As police arrived on scene, an additional shot was heard being fired from inside the home.

Additional Schuylkill County police from Butler Township, Shenandoah, Frackville, and State Police responded to the scene to assist and surrounded the home.

Walnut Street from 5th Street to 7th Street was closed off as a standoff began as police attempted to have the male inside come out.

At 3:00am, the male exited the home peacefully and officers took him into custody without incident.

A State Police SERT team was called but the incident ended before they arrived.

Police say the identity of the man involved will be released after the investigation is complete.
