Myra I Huber, 90, of Pine Grove, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 23, in the Tremont Health & Rehab. Center.

Born on July 17, 1930, in (Roedersville) Pine Grove, she was a daughter of the late Samuel D. and Edna M. Christ Herring .

Myra provided Cleaning services for the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc. for over 50 years and to several private residences.

She enjoyed visiting her friends in various nursing homes and enjoyed going to the Bethany Children's Home in Womelsdorf every year for their program. She enjoyed collecting frogs and acquired a huge collection.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 55 years, Allen K. Huber, on Sept. 11, 2004, and a Brother, Earl Herring.

Surviving are a son, Samuel and wife Pam Huber, of Leola; two Grandsons, Andy and wife Christina Huber and Joey Huber; and three great grandchildren, Gwen, Lily and Ben.

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Mark's (Brown's) Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Bethany Children's Home, 1863 Bethany Road Womelsdorf, Pa 19567, in her memory.

Barbara Anne Wetzel
, 70, of Mowry, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021, surrounded by her family, at her residence. She passed away peacefully after a long, courageous, 15 year battle with cancer. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, January 11, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Klock Roper. She was a graduate of the North Schuylkill High School, class of 1969, and was employed in the North Schuylkill High School Cafeteria, most recently as head cook at the Schuylkill Technology Center North Campus Frackville, until her retirement. After her retirement, her favorite pastime was watching the antics of the grandchildren and cooking for her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, and Mom Mom.

She was a member of St. John’s “Kimmels” United Church of Christ, Deep Creek Road, Ashland, and she also served as Worthy Matron of the Frackville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Preceding her in death was her brother, Robert J. Roper, passing in 2017.

Survivors:

Husband: Paul Leon Wetzel, with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Daughter: Kimberly wife of Brian Shepherd, Mowry

Daughter: Pamela wife of Justin Reitz, Mowry

Son: Andrew Wetzel and his wife Jillian, Harrisburg

Brother: Alfred Roper and his wife Elizabeth, Kennebunk, Maine

Sister In Law: Kay wife of Michael St.Angelo, Leesport, PA

Several Nieces and nephews

Cherished Grandchildren: Jake, Emily (Precious), Sophia (Sweetheart), Lillian (Smiley), Makinzie (Blue Eyes), and Baby Wetzel expected in May.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service, February, 27th, at 10:30 AM in the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be Rev. Bonnie Yeager. A viewing will begin at 9 AM until service. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Barry Township. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Church, 1263 Deep Creek Road, Ashland, PA 17921. Doris T Koppenhaver, age 93, of Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield, formerly of Gratz, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at her residence.

She was born on Wednesday, March 9, 1927, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Boyd Tobin and the Mabel (Shomper) Tobin.

She was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

Doris had worked in the Pentagon during World War II, then after marriage returned to the Gratz area and was employed in area garment factories, and later retired from the former Schoffstall's Store in Gratz.

She was a member of the former Simeon Evangelical Congregational Church, Gratz.

Her husband, Roy H Koppenhaver, passed away in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and by a sister, Shirley Johns.

She is survived by a son, Michael R Koppenhaver and his wife Karen of Keaau, HI; a sister, Ruth Hartman of Gratz; three nephews, David Hartman, Doug Johns, and Tom Johns all of Gratz.

Private graveside services will be held in Riverview Memorial Park, Halifax.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Ellen Cross, 76, of Orwigsburg, passed away Monday at home after a 6 ½ year battle with Alzheimer’s

She was born November 11, 1944 in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Steve and Josephine Narog Guzley of Cumbola

Mary Ellen was a 1962 graduate of Nativity BVM High School.

She worked for the Pottsville Area School District prior to retiring to in 2006.

Mary Ellen was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Lou Cross; a daughter, Marlo Lipko and her husband David; Orwigsburg; a grandson Blake Lipko.

Service and interment are private.

The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Mary Ellen be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 237 Court St, Reading, PA 19601, or www.alz.org. Arrangements are under the care of James B. Humphrey, Funeral Director, James E. Humphrey Funeral Home.
