Shenandoah Valley Announces Students of the Month for November, December, and January


The Shenandoah Valley School District will recognize the following three students as Students of the Month for November 2020, December 2020, and January 2021 during their upcoming School Board Meeting on Wednesday evening.

November - Jacqueline Bubnis

Community Service: Schuylkill Free Shakespeare (stage manager), DSI Christmas plays (2 years), pit band member/stage manager in shows at the Majestic Theater in Pottsville, performed in a Christmas choir at the First United Methodist Church in Frackville, student council events such as blood drives, and helped clean up after Heritage Day.

School Activities: Marching band (vice president), concert band, jazz band, county band, county chorus, drama club (president), volleyball, academic bowl, student council (president), National Honor Society (vice president), class president, Mini-THON committee, float committee, 2019 HOBY ambassador, 2020 HOBY team alumni/group facilitator-in-training, YES program, talent search, gifted program, youth summit.

Personal Interests: Listening to music, singing, reading, and theatre

Future Plans: Earn my bachelors in nursing and become a nurse anesthetist.

December - Megan Bell 

Community Service
: HOBY Volunteer and 2019 Ambassador, 13-year Girl Scout and Assistant Troop Leader, Mini-THON Committee, Kielbasa Fest, Heritage Day

School Activities: Concert, Marching, and Jazz Band (treasurer), Drama Club (secretary), Student Council (Co. Vice President), National Honor Society (secretary), 2019 HOBY Ambassador, Mini-THON Committee (Chairperson), Academic Bowl, County Band, County Chorus, Track and Field, Penn State Youth Council, Float Committee.

Personal Interests: Reading, dancing, being with my friends, finding new coffee shops, and cooking new recipes.

Future Plans: Attend college and major in history

January - Kaitlyn Carduff

Community Service
: Shenandoah Area Historical Society Chinese Auction, William Penn Fire Co. Pizza Sales, William Penn Fire Co. "Run the Raven" Race, William Penn Fire Co. Basket Bingo, Shenandoah Area Girls Softball League Travel Tournaments.

School Activities: Marching, Concert, Jazz Band(President and Drum Major), Drama Club(Vice President), National Honors Society(President), Student Council(Treasurer), Academic Bowl, Senior Class Vice President, County Band, Shenandoah Valley Softball, Shenandoah Area Girls Softball League, Float Committee, Mini-THON Committee, YES Program

Personal Interests: Reading, spending time with friends, going on adventures, and playing video games with my brother, Austin

Future Plans: Attend college and decide a major as I attend
