On Monday night, the Mount Carmel Area Girls Basketball team travelled to Mahanoy Area to play in the semifinals of the PIAA Class 2A tournament. The winner of the game would go to Hershey to play for a State Championship.
The first several minutes of this game would remain scoreless until Mount Carmel scored 2 on foul shouts. Mahanoy Area would answer with a 3 pointer and that would be last Mahanoy Area would lead this game.
By halftime, Mount Carmel was up by 10 with the score at 26-16.
The Red Tornadoes play the full court defense the entire game, and that would prove to be too much for the Bears ending their season with a score of 52-33.
Mount Carmel moves onto the State Championship which will be played on Thursday, March 25th, 2021 at 2:30pm.
