Suspect in Custody After Fleeing Police

A suspect is in custody after fleeing police after a pursuit that ended in Ringtown on Sunday morning.

According to Locust Township Police, on Sunday, March 7, 2021 around 4:45 AM, the Locust Township Police Department made contact with a suspicious vehicle at the Numidia Community Park in Locust Township, Columbia County.

The male occupying the vehicle identified himself as William Rossman. It was determined that the male provided false identification to law enforcement and his actual name was Clarence Rossman.

Rossman then became argumentative with the officer before fleeing in his vehicle.

Officers pursued the male into Ringtown, Schuylkill County, before Rossman drove down a dead end street, at which point Rossman fled on foot while his truck crashed into a trailer.

Numerous departments from Columbia, Schuylkill and Northumberland County assisted in attempting to locate Rossman, including tracking him with a K9 from Bloomsburg Police.

Rossman was not located and was thought to still be in the Ringtown area.

On Monday, March 8, 2021, Locust Township Police learned that Rossman may be at a home on West Lynn Street in Coal Township, Northumberland County. Coal Township Police along with Ralpho Township Police and Shamokin Police converged on the home and found Rossman trying to hide.  He was taken into custody without further incident.

Rossman was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Craig W. Long for preliminary arraignment and locked up in Columbia County Prison unable to post $100,000 straight cash bail.
