Explore Schuylkill's Passport Program Designed to Encourage Safe, Family-Friendly Adventures Throughout the Region

Explore Schuylkill recently released their summer initiative in partnership with fourteen area tourism organizations. 

Explore Schuylkill’s Passport to Adventure will take participants on a recreational journey through the history, culture, art, and leisure resources of Schuylkill County and beyond.

The passport program runs now through October 31st. At each of the fourteen stops, passport holders will have their passport stamped indicating their attendance at that location. Passport locations include: The Arts Barn, The Art of Escape, Fighter’s Heaven, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, Heisler’s Mini Golf & Dairy Bar, Hometown Farmer’s Market, Jerry’s Classic Cars & Collectibles Museum, Pioneer Tunnel & Coal Mine, Schuylkill County Historical Society, Sweet Arrow Lake County Park, Tamaqua Community Arts Center, W K & S Railroad, Walk In Art Center, and Yuengling Brewery Museum & Gift Shop.

Once 10 of the 14 locations have been visited, and passports stamped, individuals may mail their completed passport to the Explore Schuylkill Welcome Center to be entered in a prize drawing. The Grand Prize is a GoPro Hero9 camera and Adventure Kit Bundle, which includes a floating hand grip, head strap, and quick clip. Additional runner-up prizes will also be awarded, and will include area gift cards to: O’Neal’s Pub, Yocko’s, Yuengling Brewery gift Shop, Majestic Theater, Tamaqua Community Art Center, Kowalonek’s Kielbasy Shop, Mountain Valley Golf Course, Famous Reading Outdoors, WK&S Railroad, Pressed Coffee & Books, Mud & Maker, Alchemist’s Cove, Vito’s Coal Fired Pizza and Restaurant along with passes to Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, Heisler’s Dairy Bar and Jerry’s Classic Cars & Collectibles Museum. The total value of all prizes is estimated at $1,000 and each of the fourteen participating locations holds a unique experience for the visitor.

There is no cost to participate in the passport program, but admission fees may apply at several of the locations. To get started, travelers may pick up a free passport from Explore Schuylkill’s Welcome Center in Union Station, Pottsville, Holiday Inn Express, Frackville, Red Lion CafĂ©, Pine Grove, Tamaqua Station Restaurant, Tamaqua as well as any of the fourteen passport locations. Passports can also be downloaded at www.schuylkill.org. All locations will be open during their normal posted hours. Please call or visit individual websites for complete hours of operation.
