Man Facing Criminal Attempted Homicide Charges for Shooting Woman in Port Carbon

A man is facing criminal attempted homicide charges after shooting a woman in Port Carbon on Wednesday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, an investigation by Troopers found that a woman was shot by a male in the 300 block of Coal Street in Port Carbon just after 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 26th, 2021.

After being shot, the victim drove herself to the Port Carbon Borough Police Station on 1st Street.

Port Carbon Police then responded to Coal Street and took the suspect, identified as Curtis Branch, 38, of Port Carbon and Ashland, into custody.

Around 8:00pm, Wednesday, Branch was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David Plachko on charges of criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and other charges.

Judge Plachko denied bail to Branch and locked him up in Schuylkill County Prison.

The woman was flown to an area hospital with an unknown extent of her injuries.
